In this message, Dr. Sills shares with us that we are empowered by the Holy Spirit to be faithful to the Great Commission, and that the scope of that commission is to all believers, for all the peoples of the world. The power we have received is the power to overcome sin, proclaim the truth, and resist the devil. The scope of our commission is not just about going to obey, but being faithful to obey wherever God has placed us. Jesus left us this commission not just to stand and look up, but to be His witnesses to the ends of the earth.
In this message, Dr. Sills shows us that Jesus’ response to the crisis we see in the world, that men and women are lost and without hope in the world, is to call men to be disciple makers. In order for people to respond to the gospel by repentance and faith, they must hear the gospel. Therefore, our response should be to go and preach the gospel, making disciples. To make this clear, Jesus gave us the Great Commission (Matt. 28:16-20), the Great Commandments (Matt. 22:36-40), and a Great Compassion (Mark 6:34).
