The Friend and the Betrayer

Today we come back to the Life of David during a perilous time. In this text, Absalom arrives in Jerusalem and follows a debaucherous course of action as counseled by Ahithophel. Yet even as we see David's shame, which began on the palace roof, come full circle, we also see God's gracious hand of providence. As he was both befriended by Hushai and betrayed by Ahithophel, we are reminded of Christ, who also knew the blessings of friendship and the sufferings of betrayal.
