The Grief of Bloodguilt

Sermons

As the writer of Second Samuel begins to wrap up his account of the life of David, we come to a section that summarizes David's leadership of Israel. In this text, we see David as a covenant keeper in contrast to Saul who was a covenant breaker. But this is an extremely difficult passage, as we see seven descendants of Saul handed over to be killed to make atonement for the sins of Israel's first king. Yet here we also see an amazing picture of Christ and his atoning work for sinners.
