What we think matters. What truths guide our thoughts, what we believe in any given moment, greatly impacts what we will do. This is particularly true when we talk about our process of sanctification and our daily battle with sin. If you think about it, when we, as believers, choose in any given moment to sin, we have failed to believe God and instead believed a lie: the lie that this sinful indulgence (whatever it is) is better for me than what God has promised. Here in Romans 6, Paul admonishes us to think and believe rightly, so that as a result, we will live righteously and mortify our remaining sin.
