Two Ways of Life - Part 1

Luke: Thy Kingdom Come

What Jesus gives us in these opening seven verses of His “Sermon on the Plain” is four blessings followed by four woes, thereby contrasting for us two ways of life. Jesus takes the things that no one wants – poverty, hunger, sorrow, and persecution – and tells us that these are the very things that God blesses. Then He says that everything the world wants – money, food, entertainment, and popularity – are exactly the things that bring woe and regret. In this sermon, we explore the first three.
