The Reckoning Comes...
The last half of first Samuel has been building to this sad conclusion: the death of King Saul. In a final fateful battle with the Philistines, Saul and all three of his sons are overcome. As a final gesture of control, Saul falls on his own sword. From his death, we learn about the surety of God’s Word, the manner in which we are to protect God’s name, and a final lesson on how loving and honoring others is pleasing to the Lord.
