David's History of God's Deliverance

This chapter is virtually a word-for-word copy of Psalm 18, the longest of all the Psalms specifically attributed to David. The narrator of 2 Samuel includes it here for us so that we might hear David's own heart at the pinnacle of his reign, prior to his sins of adultery with Bathsheba and murder of Uriah. It was at this point in his life that we see him most clearly as a man after God's own heart and learn from him about worship, righteousness, and the certainty of God's dominion.
