God's Lethal Holiness
This is one of the most infamous stories in the Old Testament. To reestablish worship at the center of Israel's life, David and a massive throng of Israelites traveled to the house of Abinadab to bring the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem. But when Uzzah touched the ark to keep it from falling off the oxcart, God struck him dead. Why? Where is love and grace is this passage? Why would God do something that seems so capricious? In this text, we explore God's lethal holiness.
