Before we get to the miraculous conception of Jesus, we are given the miraculous conception of His herald, John the Baptist. In the prologue, Luke put great emphasis on the fact that the history he was recording was a fulfillment of what God had promised throughout the OT. That theme continues through this sermon as we see God's promises coming to fulfillment as well as our struggle to believe what God has said.
