The Altar and the Courtyard
Exodus 27 is one of those passages that seem to be mundanely descriptive. What, after all, is to be gleaned from instructions on how to construct an altar and cordon off a courtyard? However, the descriptions of these items reveal critical truths regarding how God is to be approached, the place of sacrificial offerings, and the ministry of Christ as our once-for-all sacrifice.
