During passion week, the Jewish religious leaders have been questioning Jesus in an attempt to discredit Him in the eyes of the people or to get Him in trouble with the Roman authorities. In this passage, they come to Him with a more theologically oriented question, but their motive remains the same. As Jesus answers their question about the woman married seven times, we learn about the true nature of the resurrection and how we will live in unmarried lives in Christ's presence in heaven.
