Luke: Thy Kingdom Come

The Triumphal Entry of the King of Glory

Jesus never had any intention of coming in earthly splendor and reigning in earthly power. He did not come to merely liberate the Jewish nation from their Roman oppressors; He came to liberate men from their bondage to sin. Thus, it is infinitely more appropriate that our burden bearer would enter Jerusalem on a beast of burden, in humility, receiving praise from His people, and correcting the blind religious leaders of his day.
